Excelsior are one of the UK’s most established roto moulders with 40 years experience in the industry.
Unlike many roto moulders we offer our customers the full package of product design, tooling and product manufacture all within the Excelsior Group. This unique benefit offers several advantages – it keeps lead times down, it ensures that we are competitive and it gives our customers complete peace of mind that their work is not out-sourced. Also, our customers are free to visit our tool making premises to check on progress of their tooling at any time.
The images below show latest examples of our work, and illustrate how diverse the sectors are that we are involved with:
Because we work with the latest CAD software, we are able to provide fully automated designs for our customers that really illustrate what the products will look like from all angles.
The product below is an equestrian “pole tidy” unit that Classic Showjumps launched in 2010. These images show the initial CAD drawing which was produced in-house, the wooden model produced by our toolmaker and the finished product.
Furthermore, over the years we have manufactured a wide spectrum of products ranging from very simple water floats through to highly complex products that require significant levels of expertise such as anti tank missile cases for the British and Swedish Armies. With the use of added technology including cooling jigs, we can ensure that even products with the smallest tolerance are produced to the same exacting standard each and every time.
Excelsior were commissioned by a local Rainwater Harvesting company to assist with the design and development of a new rainwater harvesting tank.
The brief was to design a 1500 litre tank that would be buried underground to collect rainwater.
The tank needed to incorporate moulded spigots to enable easy connection on site and reduce the cost of additional fittings.
Excelsior designed the tank on the 3D CAD system Pro-Engineer and the resulting 3D model was used in a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine that the tank would stand up to the forces it would encounter in service when installed underground and filled full of water. The FEA advised on areas of high stress which could indicate weaknesses in the tank which were then modified on the design before tooling was commenced.
The tooling for the tank was produced in sheet steel by our own in-house tooling facility and the product was approved for use within the first off sample run.
We have an excellent design facility and a manufacturing operation that is staffed by people with a huge amount of experience and knowledge. Added to this is our range of modern, versatile machinery complimented by a workforce of over 60 employees, many of whom have worked with us for a long time.
If you have a particular custom moulding in mind, please call us on 0161 765 2010/2014 and we would be more than happy to help.
