Its coming round to that time of the year again when we pull out all of the stops to lay down grit bin stock, and to meet and exceed our customers’ lead times and expectations.
Capacity
Over the last 25 years, we have focused not just our Winter energies, but our year-round energies into looking at ways of growing sales and of constantly improving the service that we offer our customers. Being one of the UK’s leading grit bin manufacturers with a range of 8 sizes (30 litres all the way up to 400 litres capacity) and nearly 20 tools to produce them from, we have the capacity to produce nearly 200 bins a day, 5 days a week. We usually carry anything up to 700-800 bins in stock to keep up with demand, and output for this season has increased with the addition of our latest machine and the extra space that our new building & mezzanine provide. On average we produce around 13,000 to 15,000 bins each season, and growing!
Customer base
Throughout the last 25 years we have also had the great pleasure of supplying many fantastic, longstanding customers, and that is very much the case still in 2025. Some of our biggest customers plan well ahead out of necessity, which means that we are despatching lorry loads of bins throughout the Summer onwards. This proactive approach allows us to allocate even more capacity to grit bin production as winter approaches. We are of course not just supplying into the UK market; our bins are sold throughout Europe via our extensive network of trade re-sellers and stockists. Some of our European customers have even developed and designed their own high-end grit bins which have been a huge success and helped us to establish a very strong foothold in this sector.
Bespoke branding and design service
We also offer bespoke branding which our customers love, so whether it be a graphic or an embossed logo, we cover every option. For new designs we also offer a fantastic CAD design service through our sister tooling company, Crossfield Excalibur, whose knowledge of roto moulding design is second to none throughout the industry.
Environmentally friendly
And finally, for those customers wanting a greener option, we offer grit bins manufactured from recycled black polymer. We take recycling very seriously and all off-cuts and scrap polymer is processed at a local factory and turned into black polymer. Because it is processed from virgin material, the quality is still exceptional.
Other sectors we’re involved with
Of course, one of the fantastic things about roto moulding is the huge diversity of potential product sectors that it offers through its sheer versatility and durability. So, while Grit bins are a significant market for us, we are also very heavily involved in the manufacture of bespoke products, or contract moulded products as we call them, and this covers a vast array of sectors from construction and leisure to military and health & safety. As we head towards 2026, this side of the business is performing very well as are sales of our Equestrian products where we have some highly driven stockists both in the UK and in Europe.
