Recently we celebrated Bury FC and our top performers as we sent them along to watch the side win and be crowned champions!
On the 19th of April, Bury Football Club were officially crowned Champions of the Premier Division of the North West Counties League! Such an incredible milestone in what has been a remarkable journey of rebirth. Once a fixture in the English Football League for over 125 years, the club’s expulsion in 2019 due to financial mismanagement was a heart-breaking moment for fans and the wider football community. But like any great team, Bury FC refused to stay down.
Supporting the Bury FC Comeback
A couple of years ago, when the club was rebuilding, we donated a set of free litter bins to help spruce up the stadium and show our support for their efforts off the pitch. This weekend, we took that support a step further by sponsoring their final league match of the season — a fitting tribute to a team that has shown nothing but grit, determination, and heart.
Celebrating Our Own Champions
As part of the match sponsorship, we sent along a few of our top-performing team members — employees who have achieved 100% attendance over the past 12 months as part of our internal bonus scheme. These individuals represent the absolute best of our team ethic, so it felt right that they should spend the day celebrating with a club that shares similar values of resilience and loyalty.
We’ve got some great photos of them soaking in the atmosphere at Gigg Lane, and let’s just say — the smiles say it all.
Chris Watts, Head of Commercial at Bury Football Club sums up the support:
“We were delighted to welcome Excelsior to Gigg Lane as our official match sponsor for our final game of the season. What an occasion it was as we lifted the North West Counties Premier Division title in style. We gained promotion in what has been a historic season for the club both on and off the field.
We can’t thank Excelsior enough for their continued support and welcome them back to Gigg Lane next season.”
Here’s to More Wins — On and Off the Pitch
It’s clear to see that success comes down to one thing: commitment. Whether it’s a football club achieving greatness or employees going the extra mile.
We’re honoured to have played a small role in Bury FC’s incredible comeback story and even prouder to celebrate the dedication of our own people.
