Spring has officially sprung, although to be honest you wouldn’t know it from the general state of the weather so far! We’re not letting the weather dampen our spirits though, especially given how hectic things are already so far in 2021. Here are a few quick words from our Managing Director, Giles Fielding, about what’s been going on with us so far…
Positive outlook for 2021 and beyond
Fortunately at Excelsior we have been very busy throughout the last 18 months. Life generally has been extremely challenging for the UK as a whole during this time, so at Excelsior we have tried to focus primarily on the wellbeing of our staff, and (of course) on not only maintaining our order book, but growing it. We have some fantastic, very loyal customers who are involved in a wide array of sectors, including construction, agriculture and leisure – to name just a few – and those companies have been extremely busy which is great to see.
New business and increased capacity
We are delighted to soon be welcoming some great new customers who have specifically chosen us as their moulding partner, and are coming on-board over the coming weeks. I have to say that it really is fantastic to see so many companies investing in new products given the circumstances. There’s also no doubt that companies have a renewed determination to buy British, which is something that we wholeheartedly endorse here at Excelsior – after all, why buy from overseas if you can buy from suppliers right here in the UK, investing slightly more for a far better quality product?
Throughout the pandemic we’ve been running more or less at full capacity, and with new accounts coming on-board all the time, we’ve been looking at ways to increase our capacity. To that end we have invested in a new flat bed machine which has been running flat-out since its installation, producing a steady supply of equestrian products and grit bins for our customers. Now, we’re about to implement additional permanent shifts to ensure that we can meet demand, and maintain the quick lead times that our customers have come to expect from us.
Staff / new team members
We’ll shortly be welcoming a new member of the team in our Engineering Department. David Gilbert will be joining us in early June as an electrical engineer and brings a lot of experience to the team. We are also about to recruit a Production Assistant to work alongside our Operations Manager, to assist with the day-to-day running of the Production dept.
Speaking of our staff, it’s fair to say that each and every one of them has been hugely instrumental in getting us through the last 18 months relatively unscathed. We are great believers in rewarding effort and loyalty, and see everyone here as equals. Job titles aren’t hugely important to us, but what is important is that people enjoy coming here every day.
So, as a small thank to our loyal staff, we will be closing our factory and offices on Friday 28th May so that everyone can enjoy a nice long bank holiday weekend. (All we need now is some decent weather…!)
